Little Viking's Nursery Reveal

It is finally done (well I hope it is)

The nursery reveal for Little Viking has finally come and I am so excited to share this little space we have created for this little life that has stolen our hearts.

When I started out even thinking about her nursery, the vision I had compared to how it turned out in the end was entirely different. Well for starters I did not know that we would even have our own place and that she would even have her own room (blessed), the moment we moved in I was thinking of ideas.

The main vision or theme if you will that I had in my mind was something adventurous, wild, nature inspired & a little gender neutral. I wanted a space/theme that we could change around in a heartbeat, something we could easily add decor to & something simple. I knew I did not want to overdo it with decor & little items (although I really thought the designer side of me would take hold). I think I learnt to compromise very easily with decorating her nursery, of course I wanted the expensive designer items like the crib & rocker but seriously I am so glad we went the "budget" way for this first nursery, it honestly turned out to be the most perfect space. Probably with the next nursery or when we eventually buy a house then I will go a little more crazy with everything or even for her big girl room (eventually) I will let out the inner designer in me but for now I am so content with the space we created.

An overall capture of her little space : we wanted to create something simple, not over-done maybe even a little bit Scandinavian but something that would suit her personality.

We simply fell in love with this little fox play-mat from Lolli Living and it suits so perfectly with the Bella Buttercup play-bar. (our dog Dakota thinks this play-mat is for her and we have found her on many occasions just casually sleeping on it - don't worry I washed it. She is just a spoilt little puppy who we love a lot)

I had so many different artwork, wall decor options on my Pinterest, I just could not decide but I did decide to include Benjamin's input in the designs and he picked one artwork and I picked the other. We got the prints off Etsy - ARTSopoomc who make life a little simple by selling printable wall decor (which I love). We chose these particular prints because we love living in the mountains and wanted something that reflected that.

I knew I had to get some wall decals from Love Mae (I have loved them for a long time). We chose the Mini Sleeping Fox set because again we didn't want anything way bold but a little subtle in design. I am so glad we went with the smaller decals just because they sit so perfectly above the change table. I wanted something on the walls that she could look at but not anything loose so it worked out well. I also love the pine tree and other decals because it brings a little bit of Benjamin to the nursery, a little bit manliness, again suiting the slightly gender neutral theme.

There was many sheet sets that I wanted to get (Pinterest dreams) but I happily settled with this sheet we got from Adairs Kids. I loved the simple design and of course the colour. We also got some flannelette sheets from Kmart for the colder months & another little cot set with foxes and arrows adorned on it which is beyond cute. Little Viking has so many blankets that were gifted to her so we did not need to get any additional ones, but I do love this one we got from Pottery Barn Kids last year.

fun fact: the L.O.V.E letters, was a gift for our wedding which we used at our wedding as decor. Of course it found it's way into the next chapter of our lives.

Can you believe that we got that bookcase from ALDI?! (super budget) but I actually love it. It is the same height as the dresser and basically everything else in the room, it has storage cupboards and is just wonderful. Little Viking has some books (she could always do with some more) and some cute little toys for when she is a little bit older. We actually changed the curtains we had in the room, they were just a bit to thick and bulky for the designs so we got some sweet lace ones from IKEA. Also the armchair is also from IKEA and it is honestly the most comfortable chair ever. (every-time I sit in it, she decides to move around in my belly - hurry up and come out little one so you can experience your room!)

We picked up the geometric fox nightlight at Adairs for a bargain (she has a lot of lights in her bedroom - paranoid parents perhaps?) The mint lamp is from Target and the lovely little side table is from Kmart.

This little beautiful piece was on our registry and we love it to bits. Can't wait to see her sleeping in it with the little bunny plush from Purebaby. The bassinet will be mainly used in our bedroom for the first few weeks/months and it is really handy because you can move it around the house fairly easily.

A close up of what is on her bookshelf - Bloomingville Mini Fox Pull-Along toy which we picked up at One Fine Baby last year, one adorable wooden camera that was gifted to us (Behind The Trees). As you can tell I am a firm lover of everything Peter Rabbit! And also if you look closely you can see elements of Benjamin - the Star Wars plush's (also a gift) and the gorgeous Scottish Dog plush, which he got for me a while back.

More books hidden away (sort of) in the cupboard (Enid Blyton lover). The arrow decor is from Kmart, we just did not know where to hang it but Benjamin put it up there one day and it just suited. We got the storage solution hub from Target and it fits wonderfully with the theme already in the room. I can't wait to use the Poppy blanket from Little Unicorn that was gifted to us from my mum, pretty excited about that and of course the beautiful Peter Rabbit quilt (pink one) that was gifted to us from a wonderful friend currently residing in England. (We love & miss you Lauren!)

Our first little stash of cloth diapers (not really a stash but we have more on the way). We got these ones from Hippybottomus and I am so thrilled with the fabric and the patterns! They are so soft, organic and down right adorable. (totally need so much more, really want to get some Charlie Banana ones and some Designer Bums)

Some drawer organisation - We have so many wipes (not a bad thing), some eco friendly creams, bamboo face washers and some other bath time accessories.

This is the majority of her clothes for the first few months including some swaddle blankets. (she really has a tonne of socks by the way!). Organizing the drawers, I really wanted important things to be on the top and easy for me to reach so decided to put all the diaper change things in the first drawer including any medical things we need (we do have a safety pouch thing hanging off the side of the drawer with nail clippers, thermometer and all of those things it it.

And the third drawer is some more clothes for after a few more months, some back up swaddle blankets & some extra sheets.

This is our Bella Buttercup Play-bar that Benjamin ordered in the first few weeks after finding out we were expecting a little one. We love it so much, the fact that it is all organic and just environmentally friendly is just on point for us. We love that we got it in neutral colours because it actually fits quite well in the overall nursery design. Can't wait for Little Viking to play under it!!

So that is Little Viking's nursery! I am pretty sure I am done decorating it, I tried adding things to the room but they just did not work out so it is pretty safe to say its all done. A few things that we have that are not in the photograph is - a bath tub from Ikea, a lovely baby beanbag from Chibebe, some bottles including a breast pump, a hands & feet frame clay set and other little things. So that is it! Hope you love her little space that we created just as much as we do and can't wait for her arrival any day now!!
